Iola History
The city of Iola was formed in the year 1859. It was named after Iola Colborn, whose father built the first frame style house in the area. Iola was made the seat of Allen County in the year 1865. Iola was officially incorporated in the year 1870. During the years 1895 to 1904, the population of the city grew tremendously, and from a town Iola grew into a city.
